The most interesting talk at the XP conference was about how to model a new motorcycle helmet using agile hardware practices.
Just before the summer holidays, I attended the XP2024 conference in Boltano, Italy. On Wednesday, I served as a track chair for the Education track. The submissions to this track seem to vary significantly from year to year. This year, most submissions focused on how to teach agile methods to university students. I also gave a talk on the history of the Information Model in SAFe, which took place in a campus chapel!
The most interesting talk at the XP conference was about how to model a new motorcycle helmet using agile hardware practices. I also discussed agile hardware myself. Agile hardware is still a new topic, and only a handful of people at the XP conference are engaged with it.
The current hype, of course, is AI. The XP conference had an entire track dedicated to AI, and I was ad-hoc asked to join as a panelist to discuss AI and agile. Since I've been using and following AI quite a bit, it turned out to be great fun! All in all, the XP conference kept me quite busy!
An advanced SAFe topic on CITSO, which I've been writing with Carlene Cuenca, is now published. Please take a look: https://scaledagileframework.com/getting-tactical-with-organizational-agility/.
Aside from these activities, my summer was filled with sailing in the archipelago, enjoying time at the summer cottage, and spending time with my family. During the summer, I also managed to write the final chapters of a book in Finnish on SAFe—SAFe Käsikirja. It is currently under review and will be published in the next few months.
I hope your summer was productive and relaxing as well!
