The Challenge:

The client’s team, composed of leaders and experts responsible for defining and managing the business unit’s strategic and operational metrics, gathered to address a critical task. The goal was to review the unit’s OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), eliminate redundancies, visualize priorities using a balanced scorecard, and propose a streamlined set of metrics for the entire unit.

This team also included a communications specialist with no prior experience in management metrics. The question was: could such a varied group deliver impactful results in a short time frame?

From Ordinary to Extraordinary: The MobAI Workshop

Imagine a typical meeting: a group sitting around a table, laptops open, faced with a challenging agenda. The potential for endless discussions and fragmented focus looms large. Now, imagine something completely different—a fast-paced, high-energy collaboration where roles rotate frequently, every voice is heard, and progress is made in short, focused intervals. This is the essence of MobAI.

Using MobAI principles, we organized the team into roles—driver, navigator, and mob—and worked in seven-minute timeboxes. At the end of each timebox, roles rotated, ensuring the driver felt successful in their task before stepping aside. This dynamic structure energized the team and kept the focus sharp, transforming what could have been a draining session into an engaging and productive experience.

Key Outcomes:

In just a few hours, the team achieved remarkable results:

  1. Overlapping metrics were identified and eliminated, simplifying the OKR and KPI structures.
  2. Priorities were visualized using a balanced scorecard, bringing clarity to focus areas.
  3. A comprehensive and actionable proposal for the unit’s strategic metrics was developed.

Despite their lack of prior experience with management metrics, the communications specialist brought fresh perspectives that enriched the discussion and outcomes. This highlighted the value of diverse viewpoints in tackling complex challenges.

An interesting observation was the team’s reliance on their own expertise rather than fully utilizing AI tools during the process. This highlighted an area for growth: learning to better integrate AI insights into collaborative work.

Conclusion:

The MobAI workshop demonstrated its ability to bring clarity, energy, and focus to even the most complex tasks. The structured, inclusive approach ensured every team member contributed meaningfully, turning a potentially exhausting session into an inspiring and highly productive collaboration.
